JAIME WOOD.Jaime draws on her experience to teach light, uplifting classes that reflect the challenge of everyday life without losing sight of yoga’s ancient + rich tradition. True to her roots, she teaches dynamic Vinyasa using an ever-changing sequence of Asana (aligning breath and movement) and the interdisciplinary approach, which allows her to respond to the energy in the room. She has trained with many great teachers, each of whom has contributed to her unique teaching style. Being a mom, step mom, partner + owner of Samatva Yoga Kingston (for the past 11 years) she loves to share the practical application of yoga’s benefits to everyday living - and her classes are designed for all levels. Her love of yoga is evident in her teaching style and her classes will leave you feeling inspired and open to possibility.
“I am hugely passionate about the transformational benefits of yoga and meditation and the power they have to help us see what we truly are; works in progress. I teach yoga from the heart, with the sole aim of encouraging others to love themselves and the world a little bit more each day. My classes are for everyone, designed to build strength and encourage stillness of mind and an open heart through mindful breath led movement. Sequences are nourishing, strong, dynamic and fun and intended to energize and inspire individuals to embrace their vast potential on and off the mat. I'm a great lover of restorative, yin + yoga nidra meditation and like to incorporate this into most classes. In a culture obsessed with 'doing', these supported postures serve as the perfect antidote and offer untold benefits to the entire being.” yogasamatva.com |

Where Rhythm and Gravity Meet: Practice Beyond the Physical by Going Deeper. This two-part practice unites two powerful ways to move: Rhythmic + Organic Vinyasa Flow and Yoga Nidra Stillness. The yogis define our body as having five layers or sheaths, each one contained within the other, like Russian Dolls. Called Koshas, these sheaths cover every aspect of our being, from the most gross to the most subtle. When we practice yoga – whether it’s asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, or even karma yoga – we are having an impact on one or more of these layers of the body.
PART 1: Dedicated to a rhythmic and organized flow Rich with rhythm + creativity, this vinyasa flow practice will ask you to tap into the unseen forces, a source greater than the power of the muscles, bones or even breath. Relax and let it move you, because it will. Not your average Vinyasa. PART 2: Dedicated to Yoga Nidra The final part of the class is devoted to a unique style of guided meditation called Yoga Nidra, often translated as ‘yogic sleep.’ In Yoga Nidra, students lie comfortably on the floor and are guided in placing awareness on different focal points, including parts of the body, the movement of the breath, and the contents of the imagination. The result is a profoundly restful meditation in which students approach a state similar to sleep while retaining a sense of wakeful awareness. Yoga Nidra can be an excellent way to counter stress and prevent stress-related illness. Also, because it is done lying on the back, it is accessible to students who may not be able to sit upright for long periods and yet still wish to explore meditation. Students of all experience levels are welcome. >> to schedule |
