ERIC BENNEWITZ.Eric's first yoga inspiration came from an unlikely source. As a kid growing up in the 70's his yoga spark came from Yoda. That's right, Star Wars!
This is where the idea of 'Oneness' of all started to take shape. For the younger generation out there, the FORCE described by Yoda is the energy created by all living things that surrounds us, penetrates and binds the universe together.'--it brings balance. After practicing various yoga styles with different teachers & mentors, Eric found his passion in Ashtanga & Vinyasa Flow yoga. In this, he continued his studies at the renowned 'Downward Dog Yoga Center' in Toronto, Canada. While here, Eric also discovered the practice of Yoga Nidra and knew from his first experience that this was something that would shape his future practice. After teaching awhile in Toronto, Eric relocated to Hamburg, Germany where he deepened his passions in Yoga Nidra meditation, creative asana sequencing, anatomy and hands-on assisting. Eric's classes inspire students to move beyond they're comfort zone safely, threading creative and intelligent yoga asana together with insightful yoga food for thought that can be applied to today's daily life. His belief and message to all those interested is RELEASE. DEEPEN. OPEN. BE. These words act as his reminder to maintaining a yoga practice in these modern days of distraction overload. These days, Eric continues to teach 200 & 300hr teacher trainings, Yoga Nidra teacher trainings and specialty workshops throughout Germany and Canada. He is based in Hamburg and owns PEACE OUT YOGA with his wife Eva and their ‘Peacekeeping team.’ Over the years, Eric has contributed articles about yoga nidra and yoga in life to various yoga magazines and blogs. He is very thankful to all his past teachers and students for sharing and currently mentors with Jennifer Reis, his Yoga Nidra mentor and Anna Rossow, his asana and anatomy mentor. www.peaceoutyoga.de |
CLASSES.Saturday 9:00-10:45 Slow to Flow ft. Roland Bogdahn
Sunday 16:45-18:30 Release to Peace ft. Roland Bogdahn Slow to Flow. Yin before Yang or Yang before Yin?? Each of these yoga styles has its unique benefits. A Yang to Yin is probably more common these days, but have you ever experienced the reverse...a Yin to Yang Yoga practice? When we practice Yin yoga before a Yang Flow, we open the energy of the joints and deeper connective tissues first and that sometimes enables us to move into the later Yang Flow with more openness, flexibility and awareness. Some days we just need to ease into focus and clarity in the mind before jumping into a stronger Yang flow, so starting with a slow Yin is just what your body may need before a get-up-and-go energizing Yang flow.
Together with the LIVE YOGA DJ sounds of ROLAND BOGDHAN, we’ll release tensions and open the spine, hips and shoulders through yin and take that calm deepened awareness into a yang sequence that will ignite your inner fire and to end, rest into stillness with some cooling breath awareness and a daily dose of Yoga Nidra meditation. With this my yoga friends, we can welcome the ups and downs of our day with a balanced yin and yang acceptance and smile. Release to Peace: Fusing Yin Yoga with Yoga Nidra and the LIVE DJ sounds of Roland Bogdhan. Yin Yoga boring? Passive? Slow? The only answer that matters here is ‘slow.’ Sure, its slow, but when you understand and practice Yin Yoga, allow your body and breath to melt into it, you’ll probably walk away realizing that you’ve only been doing half of an asana practice in the past. And if your feeling restless in body and mind while practicing Yin Yoga, then even more reason to practice it to compliment your ‘faster’ Yang flow styles. Take this class time to enjoy your breath a few extra minutes in releasing tensions within your deeper body that a more dynamic yang flow can’t reach. While we feed our bodies with ‘CHI’ energy through breath awareness and move our bodies into various shapes in this class, we’ll be supported by the grounding beats of Roland to slowdown the fluctuations of your mind and the waves of your brain. With the body relaxed and the mind quieted, you’ll be ready to be guided into the meditation of Yoga Nidra with Eric. A journey from DOING and THINKING into FEELING and BEING. In this meditation, you’ll be guided through various relaxation and breath awareness techniques and visualisations to effortlessly bring you into a state of human-BEING. >> to schedule |
